Club history

The Rotary Club of Frankston Long Island in action

The club was chartered (made official) on 5th October 1981. Before then, members belonged to the Rotary Club of Frankston but expressed the desire to form a new group, meeting at lunchtime and with the intention of attracting membership from the Frankston Central Business District. The new group was to be known as the Rotary Club of Frankston Central.

In more recent times the Club felt the need to be better identified (there are four Rotary Clubs in Frankston) which lead to a change of venue to the Long Island Golf Club and a change of name to the Rotary Club of Long Island Frankston.

In 2005, and in consideration of the changing nature of the business environment, a decision was made to move the meeting venue nearer to the CBD and to meet at The Frankston Lifesaving Club. Despite the change of venue were still known as the Rotary Club of Long Island Frankston. Finally in May 2007, we became a breakfast club and the name was altered to The Rotary Club of Frankston Long Island.
