President’s Report 2 Aug 2011
Yes it is me! Sorry for the lack of presidental communication but by the sound of it, Judy, Ross and David assisted by you all are doing an excellent job of not only keeping the club running but also orgainsing great projects and events.
The next major fundraising event is the Relay for Life – Silent Movie Night on Friday 26th August at the Peninsula Community Theatre. Not many takers at the moment but we are hoping that each member will sell 10 tickets to the event to make it a fundraising success. See the newsletter produced by Judy for more details or see Judy at the meeting this week. It should be a great night!
Three months into the job in Alice Springs and so far enjoying the work. I have travelled to some communities: Yuendumu, Ali Curung, Ti-Tree and have been as far north as Elliott visiting hospitals and health centres. Also had a holiday with family down to Uluru, Kata Jutja and Kings Canyon.
Don’t forget to sign up for the Club’s Relay for Life Team. It is on 24-25 September and should be a great event.
In the next week or two we will also send a notice out about the Club’s 30th Anniversary on Saturday 8th October. Put the date in your diary!
Have a great meeting on Thursday!
President’s report 31 May 2010
Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends of Rotary
Hello from sunny Alice Springs! Although it is a bit cold in the mornings down to -2 degrees yesterday the sunny days are fantastic.
Thanks to Judy Rebecca for taking charge in my absence. Apart from running the meetings, catering and organising other club activities Judy is also organising fundraising events to support the Cancer Council Relay for Life. The first of these events are the dinners as J&A’s Cafe on Venice. The first dinner on 25 June is nearly full but the one on 2 July has plenty of space for club members to go along and make it a great club social event while raising funds for a life saving cause. See Judy for details.
The Club has also made it into the 21 Century craze of social networking with Kath Luty starting up a Facebook page for the Club. Six members have so far signed up. It is a good opportunity for those members who are not facebookers to sign up. My aim is to get Steve Cernotta added as a member of the site.
Kath is also leading the charge with the Club’s business lunch. Kath has suggested a couple of speakers. Check the Club’s Facebook page and let Kath now your thoughts or maybe you have a suggestion for a speaker.
Fundraising for the Alternative Schoolies trip to Cambodia continues with a CAT sampler working bee happening in the next week or so. Judy will let you know about this at the meeting on Thursday. Thanks to Steve Cernotta for organising the pickup and delivery of the sampler kit items for assembly.
I am sure I have missed something out but will catch up with what else is happening when I return briefly for the long weekend and have a Board meeting on Friday 10 June.
Enjoy the meeting on Thursday.
President Brad
