President’s report 31st Jan 2011

Well 2011 has well and truly started as we near the end of January. The fame of our Schoolies Program to Cambodia continues to build with Judy being asked to be the speaker for the New Generations slot at the District Conference at the end of March. Well done Judy, Janet and Ross. Any members who want to come to the conference form 25th to 27th March please let me know this Thursday.

Any members interested in being involved in the next Schoolies Program this November let Judy know. We are aiming to get 20 schoolies involved and will need about six members or friends to accompany them to Siem Reap. The schoolies program also made the local ‘Weekly’ newspaper.

Last Sunday a number of members and friends also finished off the latest lot of CAT sampler kits. Many hands made light work and we were finished in no time. Another $1,000 towards the Club’s community account. While doing the kits we also made the decision to hold a ‘business type’ function on Friday 26th August. Now we have a date we can start organising speakers etc. New member Kath Luty is leading the charge. Any members who want to be involved in organising the function let me know.

We are hoping that the guest speaker this week will be Maddy Stroot to talk to us about her year in Germany. I am sure Maddy has a few stories to tell us. At the 17th February meeting Roy Travis will speak to the Club about the Cambodian Children’s Fund.

A reminder that the first big event for the Nepean Cluster is the 106th Birthday of Rotary at George Pentland Botanic Gardens. The funds raised from this event will go to Flood Relief. It was a great night last year and should be even better this year. The cost is $25.00 per person and it starts at 6.30pm. The event is fully catered and entertainment will be provided by Maurie’s Jolly Rollers. Let me know if you want to come. You can pay at the meeting this Thursday.

See you Thursday!!
President Brad
