President’s Report – June 2010
Changeover Lunch on Sunday 27th June, 2010 starts at 12 noon for 12.30 at Frankston Lifesaving Club. I am looking forward to seeing you all there on the day and presenting my full report for the year 2009-2010 at that meeting.
It has been a very busy, but fulfilling year with the successful joint Charter of the Peninsula Rotaract Club and our ‘Alternate Schoolies’ Program progressing well with 13 school leavers going to Cambodia and 5 going to Tanzania.
We have donated money and time to DIK projects; Bushfire affected families; the Schools Garden Program; Frankston Youth Resource Centre; Ardoch Youth Foundation; Kananook Primary School Scholarships; Emerging Athletes Program; Young Carers and many other projects.
Last July, we welcomed our Inbound student, Nicola Von Hobe. Nici has been the most wonderful ambassador for the Youth Exchange Program and her country. We will be sadly saying our final Goodbyes to Nici on the 4th July and I know that all her host parents and their families will miss her very much. In January, we waved goodbye to our Outbound student, Maddy Stroot for her year in Germany. Maddy is having a most wonderful time and I am sure will regale us with all the stories of her adventures in Europe when she comes home in January 2011.
I would like to thank the Board and members of our club for your wonderful support over the past year and wish PE Brad and his team another successful year in Rotary in 2010 – 2011.
Best Regards
President (for the last time) Judy
President’s Report June 2010
Next meeting is tomorrow, Thursday 17th June 2010.
Unfortunately, a little like Nici, I haven’t had time to write anything much either. We have just arrived back in this freeeeeezing place from Darwin where it was 30 degrees every day and beautiful. We have been swimming in wave pools, rock pools, springs and waterfalls; seen a movie sitting under the stars at the Deck Chair Cinema and been eaten by green ants and midgies. We had a lovely time and it was a very welcome break after the events of the previous week. We stayed with my oldest friend who looked after us wonderfully and took us for a surprise weekend away to a place called Lake Bennett. There we sat and looked at the lake, rowed on the lake both day and night. You have never seen so many stars! It was so beautiful. We took Nici to Litchfield National Park and swam in every waterhole we could find. We hand fed fish and ate and drank an awful lot! I am going to have to lose at least 10 kilos I think. In the meantime, I am trying to keep warm and not succeeding very well.
Don’t forget Changeover and Nici’s farewell on Sunday 27th June at Frankston Lifesaving Club. Remember to read the DG’s newsletter which I have forwarded to you, which has all the information regarding the GSE team welcome or it might be farewell and District Changeover on July 4th. July 4th is also the day that Nici heads back to Germany. Don’t forget to respond to PP Steve regarding the working bee on Sunday 20th June.
I will look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
Cheers
President Judy (for the last time)

Nici’s Report
Nici has been having a very nice time in Darwin with her host parents, Judy and Allan and therefore has had no time to write anything! As you can see from the photos, she just didn’t have the time!
